Inviting Class of 88 & 90?
Posted Friday, June 26, 2009 03:59 PM

NESHAMINY 1989 SHOWED THE STUDENT BODY WAS FRIENDS WITH SO MANY MORE THAN THE CONFINES OF OUR CLASS. IT WAS EXPRESSED FROM THE BEGINNING THAT THE DOORS SHOULD BE OPEN TO THE 89’ CLASS AND THOSE ASSOCIATE WITH THEM. FROM HERE, WE WOULD PLAN ON HAVING AN EXPECT AMOUNT OF 300 GUESTS.

Opinion
So many of us did not go to the class of 88, because we were simply not invited. Why do this now?

Committee - Class of 1989 will attempt to set a precedent to the Class of 90’ and beyond; that this is a courtesy which maybe offered in the future.  As far as the Class of 1988, I don’t think they would have denied us the right to come; they just didn’t advertise it that way.  It was a reunion, just as simple as that. Who’s gonna deny having a drink with them? I would not. Also, this may be the last opportunity to see some of them again.

Opinion
There was a discount bulletin that was advertised in the Credits of the Video launched on June 24, 2009 stating discounts would be given to 88’ & 90” classmates. Why the discount to them and not us?

Committee - The largest discount shall be given to the class of 1989, starting at $79/ticket during early registration. Classmates can purchase an unlimited quanity of tickets at this price until 7/15/2009- the end of early registration. This discount is only available to the Class of 89.

It is a guess that there only would be about 50-60 additional guests attending from the other two classes (that are not sposes or significant others of Class of 89 classmates).  But with certainity, some people from these classes will want to attend our reunion.  Class of 88 and 90 attendees would be welcomed to our reunion, and pay $84 for advanced tickets sale up until 10/3/2009 rather than be subject to the late registration pricing since sales are only open less than a month prior to the reunion for them.

Class of 89 will still have to pay the $84 until 9/19/2009 and then pay $89 for late registration.

Opinion
If the doors are open to everyone associated and not just 89, 88, & 90, would that lead to guests resulting to discomfort to socialize?

Committee - WELL WOULD THAT JUST BE THE WORST OF OUR WORRIES. A LINE OUT THE DOOR, AND THE PLACE IS PACKED  I THINK JOE WOULD HAVE US EVERY YEAR- HA!

We still have control over the total attendees and priority of ticket sales.  To avoid our class having to take a backseat in attending, All ticket sales for guests would be available starting September 10th, 2009 (One Month prior to date).

In proposing an event on this scale, you are making your reunion a more of a social. This in turn will increase numbers and create a lack of intimacy UNLESS the entire restaurant is reserved.  Our class is currently guaranteed to have possession of the entire restaurant for the night if over 300 classmates/guests attend the reunion.

Aside for holding about 300 guests in the Main Area and Bar, there is another room which can contain over 200 guests which we can utilize. We can make this a lounge for those who wish to catch up or socialize away from events of the main dining room.  The lighting will be more subdued, the music more "fusion and edgy" to create more relaxed atmosphere one would want when catching up with classmates.

And, let’s not forget there is a huge outside deck area we can take advantage of (weather permitting)!!!

I dont believe this would be considered our high school reunion if the class of 88 and 90 were invited as well...you might as well post in on facebook and call it a get together.

I do not agree with inviting the other classes either.  We all may have friends from other years, but some people from our class, we have not seen in 20 years.  There is alot to catch up on in a short amount of time.  If you want to get together with your friends from other years then it should be done at your convenience and not during the reunion.  Especially on our 20th.  We may never see some of "these" classmates ever again.  The argument of filling the establishment is not a good one because 179 classmates are planning on attending (and we still have four months to go and over 400 classmates haven't been found) and with spouses we are still looking at about 250 from our class alone right now.  You have all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday to get together with friends from the area which is the most likely population of 88 and 90 that will be attending.  Remember, this is the class of 1989 reunion, not a all school reunion.  If someone wants to do this it should be organized at a different time.

I agree.  I'd like to see it remain only for the class of '89.

I agree with everyone else that's posted so far.  I moved a lot & although I do know some people from the other years, they generally are not the ones I want to see.  I want to see the people that I actually went to classes with & spent time with.  One of my prior schools actually has an all years reunion, but they only had about 200 students per year.  That would be a good reason to have an all years reunion but not when we had such a large class.  Dale's figures make sense & if they are accurate, we should easily achieve the 300 attendees goal and then some.  In doing that, and keeping it 89 only, it should make for great socialization opportunities.  Well, that's just my two cents.  Take it or leave it, it doesn't buy much nowadays.  LOL!  :)

I think since it is OUR 20 year high school reunion it should just be open to our class not 88 or 90.  I agree with Dale if you want to get together with friends from other years do it at another time , we only have OUR 20 year reunion once !

I think you guys may be considering that 88 & 90 will consider it their reunion, and therefore flood the place. On the contrary, I think it may provide us with just the right comfort level we may want (and contractually require to bring in mind you).  I don't think that any 88 and 90 classmates are gonna go to this gig, if they are not 't bonded with someone in 89'.  Plus this won't even be made available to them until later in the game... don't you think that it's better to have a good turnout than a light turnout?

Food for thought...One Love and thank you to all who have replied....ewwwww the static eeewwwww

I agree with everyone about this being a class of 89 reunion. Since there is Facebook and so many ''mini" reunions we should keep this to our class. Especially when the location does not appear to have as much space as may be possible if we add other classes.  It was bad enough we had to share our Senior class trip with Juniors when I believe the year before us and after us did not. ( I could be wrong)  Although the class trip was fine. It did not seem fair to have to be Seniors and share.  This is just an opinion so hopefully did not offend anyone from the class of 90....

I agree with Dale.  This is OUR 20yr reunion.  Let's just keep it that way.  If it is going to turn into a all year reunion, I don't think I would attend.

Is this OUR 20 year reunion or a NESHAMINY reunion in general?  Class of '88 already had their 20 year reunion, why would they want to come to ours?  And I'm sure the Class of '90 is looking forward to theirs next year...why would they want to ruin the element of suprise next year seeing all their classmates now.  I'm not opposed to mixing crowds but I agree with everyone else so far that this would just  be another function and not a 1989 Reunion.  Our 20 year reunion is suppose to be for OUR CLASS...not others.  Considering the size of our graduating class and spouses/signifcant others, I think we will have more than enough people attending.

This event should not be about "filling the building" but reuniting with the classmates that woudl like to attend. This will discourage many people from even coming.  I can do this at the next FACEBOOK get together. At least that is my thought!

Thanks!

I agree with everyone above.   It should remain the Class of 89, not Neshamniny High School's Reunion.  The committee has coordinated a Friday night get together and a golf outing on Sunday I think those events would be appropriate to open to other classes.  Just my thoughts, of course!

I agree with everyone that has posted so far.  It is our reuinon not a regular party.  The point is for the class of 89 to get together.

Not much more to add since I agree with everyone else who is against opening this up to other classes.  I am sure most, if not all of us have friends or acquaintances from the other class years but doubt that any of us would want to attend their reunion.  I know I wouldn't.

I am actually a little surprised that this is even being considered since the whole theme and build up for this reunion has been centered around the class of 89 (Aidenine man, etc.).
